Bill Ray Deason

FARMINGTON - Bill Ray Deason passed away at Parkland Health Center on December 21, 2022 at the age of 88. He was born January 9, 1934 in Sikeston, Missouri to the late David Alfred Deason and Ona (Brown) Dixon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two children, Deborah Cochran and Matthew Deason; a brother, David Deason and a sister, Wanda Willis. Bill went to high school in St. Louis at Beaumont High and soon after was drafted into the Army in July of 1956. While serving in the Army he was a track vehicle mechanic stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington. Upon his return to civilian life, Bill went to work as a repairman for the Maytag Service Company of St. Louis. He worked as the Maytag repairman for 37 years. In his retirement he went to work for Parkland Hospital where he worked for 17 years. Many will remember him as their shuttle bus driver. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who was always there for his family. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing. He was a faithful member of Open Heart Assembly in Farmington. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Carol; his children, Donna Deason and Timothy Deason; ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Cook and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends and family may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday evening, December 26, from 5 - 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, December 27 beginning at 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Davis officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Farmington. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the American Lung Association.
