Bill J. Crouthers of Bonne Terre, passed away at his home on June 13, 2010 at the age of 76 years, five months, and ten days. He was born on January 3, 1934, at Sikeston, the son of the late William Henry and Lizzie (Leigh) Crouthers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Carletta Stormes. After graduating from the University of Missouri with his Bachelor of Arts, he served his country for two years in the Army. After serving in the Army, Bill taught school at Sikeston, and later at Fox C-6 schools in Arnold. On June 6, 1959 he married Velna Ilene Wyatt at Forest Hill, MD. Bill was a member of the Sonrise Baptist Church of Bonne Terre. In his spare time, Bill liked to read and research geneology. Mr. Crouthers is survived by his wife, Velna (Wyatt) Crouthers; two twin daughters, Janet Politte of Festus and Arlen (Garry) Hinch of Salem, OR; four grandchildren, Erin (Darrell) Hasty of Festus, Rachael (Mark) LaPlant of Pevely, Caitlin Hinch and Kerry Hinch, both of Salem, OR, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Ava Gunter of Kirkwood and Ruby Bastress of Sun City Center, FL. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday June 16, 2010. Visitation will resume on Thursday at the Sonrise Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be at the Sandy Baptist Church Cemetery near Hillsboro.
