Betty Nell Smith

August 25, 1928 — June 19, 2017

FARMINGTON Betty Smith, of Farmington, passed away June 19, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield at the age of 88. She was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri on August 25, 1929 to the late William and Beatrice (Weible) Clayborne. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Eugene Smith in 2009 and five sisters, Susie Dotson, Wilma Black, Virginia Johnson, Mary Kennon and Faye Telle.

Betty was raised just outside of Farmington and attended Salem School and Three Rivers School. At the age of 17 she moved to St. Louis. On February 22, 1947 she married the love of her life, Eugene Smith in Pickett, Arkansas. In 1984 they moved to Farmington from St. Louis where they enjoyed their retirement. Betty was a member of the Open Bible Church.

Survivors include her son, Lee Brown of Fenton, Missouri; sisters, Nina Kennon and Doris Dennison, a brother, Robert Clayborne; a special niece and nephew, Cindy Telle and Rob Clayborne as well as many other dear nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. until the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel.
