Betty Matthews Sunrise: May 23, 1932 Sunset : January 26, 2022 Betty Lucille Matthews(King) was eldest child born to the late Mary Imogene (Staten) and Lynn Otis "Skip" Matthews. Betty married Kilby Bryant in 1950. To this union was born 6 children Deborah (Slaughter),Barbara (Milhouse), Kilby Jr., Keith, Helen (Crank) and Lisa. Betty worked at Trimfoot for 8 years before relocating to Michigan. There she began a new career. She was hired by General Motors as 1st African American administrative personnel where she worked for 32 years. After retirement she continued to participate in the pageants she loved so much with her granddaughter Tiffany as well as dance and baton that she kept Tiffany enrolled in. Betty was an avid doll collector she had over 100 dolls in her collection at one time. Betty moved back to Farmington to be closer to her parents as they aged. She became an active volunteer at the Farmington Senior Center. She loved to socialize and meet new people. She never met a stranger she didnt like. Betty and Curtis married in 2011 relocated to Henderson, Nv., and a year later to Scottsdale, Az. where her hobby became Bingo whether in person or the Bingo lottery and walking her puppy Toby. Whatever she did she enjoyed her life with joy. She leaves with many loving memories husband Curtis King, daughters Barbara(Milhouse), Helen (Crank) and Lisa. 16 grandchildren, 2 of which were special to her Devon and Tiffany whom spent a great time with her growing up, 20 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, brother William(Bill) Matthews and loving nieces , nephews along with loving friends that became extended family as well. Her request was that any donations lieu of flowers be made to the Preservation Association for the African American Masonic Cemetery c/o Memorial Methodist Church 425 North St. Farmington, Mo. 63640 (573)756-4565 . The family wishes to thank everyone one for their thoughts, prayers and kindness during this time.
