Betty Jo Brown

FARMINGTON - Betty Jo Brown passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the age of 68 years. She was born on August 23, 1943, at Farmington, daughter of the late Otto Guy and Emma Augusta (Carmickle) Hopkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Carl Eugene Brown, Sr. and a brother, Lee Hopkins. Betty grew up in Farmington where she graduated from Farmington High in 1961. Shortly after graduation she married Carl Eugene Brown on August 10, 1961. She was a homemaker and mother for many years and in more recent years she worked as a dietary aide at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo, going to the Farmington Senior Center and spending quality time with her family. Survivors include her two children, Carl E. Brown, Jr. and wife Ginger of Desloge and Cindy Brown of St. Louis, four grandchildren, Angela Brown of Bonne Terre, Justin Brown of Farmington, Brandi Luffy of St. Louis and Carla Taylor of Park Hills, ten great-grandchildren and a sister, Doris Crites of Farmington. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 3. Visitation will resume Saturday at 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Farmington.
