Bertha Gastreich

Bertha Theresa Gastreich fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Friday, June 3, 2011, at Presbyterian Manor, at the age of 90 years. She was born on February 12, 1921, in Ste. Genevieve County, daughter of the late John William and Leona Alma (Harmon) Thomure. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, David E. Williams, her second husband, Roy Alois Gastreich, daughter, Wanda Lee Heflin, three sisters, Helen Bowling, Hazel Thomure and Alta Wampler, and a brother, Vernon Thomure. Mrs. Gastreich was a long-time and faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington. She was retired from the Continental Can Company in St. Louis where she had been employed as a forklift operator. Bertha will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, including two sons, John and wife Carol Williams of Festus, and Gary and wife Barbara of Hillsboro, seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, a sister, Ruth Robertson of Farmington, two brothers, John Ellis Thomure and Jerry Thomure both of Farmington, step-son, Gary and wife Sharon Gastreich of St. Louis, son-in-law Dean Heflin of Keyesport, IL and many other relatives and friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 7 a.m. until the 9:45 a.m. funeral procession from the Cozean Chapel to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Father Rickey Valleroy officiating.
