John Barry Phegley of Doe Run passed away January 13, 2008, at Parkland Health Center at the age of 45 years. He was born on April 20, 1962, at Ironton, the son of Leonard and Velma (Barton) Phegley. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Bonnie Phegley, and maternal grandparents, Richard and Novie Barton. He was the owner and operator of Midwest Sports Center at Farmington. In his spare time he loved hunting, golf, water sports, and football. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Stephens) Phegley, three sons, Joey and Christopher Wengler, and Taylor Phegley, all of Doe Run, parents, Leonard and Velma (Barton) Phegley also of Doe Run, mother-in-law, Eulah Stephens of Fredericktown, two sisters, Melodie (Christopher) York of Doe Run, and Penny (Derek) Ingram of Festus, a special uncle, Fritz Barton of Doe Run, three nieces, three nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive. Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, January 15, from 5-9 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Pastor James King and Pastor David Oddi officiating. Interment will be in the Doe Run Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jay Lacey officiating.
