Barbara Lee Hawn

FARMINGTON - Barbara Lee Hawn, 81, formerly of Viburnum, passed away August 2, 2012 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She was born June 16, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Lee Smith and Barbara Caroline (Tullock) Reynolds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald J. Hawn and son, Jeffery L. Hawn, and brother-in-law Tom Rigdon. Barbara was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, former member of the First Baptist Church of Viburnum, The Eastern Star, The Red Hats of Viburnum and Farmington, the Viburnum Garden Club, and served for many years as a 4-H Community Leader. In her spare time she enjoyed playing Pinochle with friends, spending time at the Farmington Oaks Senior Center, and was an avid collector of dolls and depression era glass. While living in Viburnum, she was a professional cake decorator, having decorated over three generations of wedding cakes and family celebration cakes before retiring. Barbara will be missed by all those who knew and loved her including her daughter, Diane Hawn of St. Charles, two grandsons, Curt Brewer of St. Louis and Jay Brewer and wife Nikki of St. Louis, sister Carolyn Rigdon of Farmington, brother Morgan T. Smith and wife Beverly of Florissant, and numerous other relatives, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends 2-7 p.m. Sunday August 5, 2012 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory with an Eastern Star Service to be held at 5 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday from 7a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. with Reverend Greg Slinkard officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve County. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy to the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church will be greatly appreciated.
