Barbara Ann Ashby

FARMINGTON Barbara Ann Ashby, of Farmington, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Tueday, December 29, 2015 at the age of 78. She was born in Elvins on June 21, 1937 to the late Raymond and Marie (Brenneke) Maxson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jerry Jacklin "Jack" Ashby 2011; a daughter, Michelle Elizabeth Ashby and a brother, Douglas Maxson.

Barbara grew up in Elvins where she graduated from high school in 1955. She met and then married the love of her life in 1956, Jack, who had just returned from serving in the military. They raised their family in Elvins then briefly lived in St. Louis but moved back to the area to enjoy retirement. Barbara loved her family and always put them first. Her beautiful smile and caring personality will be etched in the minds of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Barbara and Jack enjoyed many years of traveling, golfing and attending thousands of sporting events, plays and dance recitals of their children and grandchildren. In addition to her family, she will be greatly missed by her many friends and neighbors.

Survivors include her children, Jack (Theresa) Ashby of Fenton and Beth (Dennis) Standfuss of Farmington; four grandchildren, Ann (Stan) Maxson, Patrick Ashby, Jessica (Tell) Pryor and Michael (Ashleigh) Standfuss; and one great-grandson, Jack Standfuss. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Judy Baker and Jane Hartley; a brother-in-law, Gene Martin; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday, January 4 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Rev. Scott Hall officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church.
