Avery Shearin

Avery Shearin Avery H. Shearin of Ste. Genevieve passed away on October 17, 2006 at his residence at the age of 86 years. He was born on April 20, 1920, at Flat River, the son of the late Eli John and Stella (Anderson) Shearin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Opal (Graham) Shearin, a son, Paul Shearin, a daughter, Judy Shearin, and eight brothers, Harold, Harry, Everett, Roy, Orville, Keith, Alvin, and Lawrence Shearin Mr. Shearin retired from the Mississippi Lime Company where he worked for 40 years. He also worked on cars in his spare time. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II where he received two Bronze Service Stars in the New Guinea Campaign and the Southern Philippines Campaign. He was united in marriage to Opal Graham on October 5, 1942, and to that union eleven children were born. Surviving children are; Mary and Diane Wright both of TX, Donald Shearin, Glenda Pride and husband Frank, John Shearin and wife Bernice, Debbie Reissing and husband JR, all of Ste. Genevieve, Carla Barnhouse and husband Steve of TX, Dana Parker and husband John of MS, Ronnie Shearin and wife Lois of TX. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren other and relatives. Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2006. Visitation will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday with a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at the Cozean Memorial Chapel with Rev. Elmer Killian officiating. Burial will follow at Genevieve Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to HospiceCare, Inc.
