Audrey Mae Faries of Oakville, formerly of Farmington, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Bethesda Southgate Nursing Center, at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 26 days. She was born on February 3, 1924, in Fredericktown, daughter of the late Frederick Angelo and Sarah Francis (Reed) Graham. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John Royal Faries, three brothers and a sister, Harold, Basil "Mike", Pleasant Jasper "Pete" and Hannah. Audrey was raised in Fredericktown and graduated high school there in 1942. On December 20, 1943 she married John Royal Faries in Bay City, Texas in the home of a Baptist minister. "Mae" as her husband called her, was a homemaker and raised her family in Farmington. She and John always had a garden and she took care of all the canning of the vegetables. She will be remembered for serving her family many delicious meals, but mostly she will be remembered for her homemade dinner rolls. Mae was active in the Missouri University Extension Center and took part in many classes there. She was an accomplished seamstress and made most of the clothing for her family. For twenty-five years Mae and John spent their winters in Okeechobee, FL where they fished and enjoyed the many friendships they made there. They often said those years going to Florida were the best years of their life. In 2005 she and John moved to Arnold to be closer to their family where she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Audrey is survived by her children, Tryna K. (Mrs. Gene) Groat of Arnold, son, Stephen Terry Faries and wife Jane of Jacksonville, FL and son, Stanley Craig Faries and wife Patricia of Oswego, IL; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and many good friends. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 15. Visitation will resume Saturday at 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 9 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Chaplain Marvin "Bill" Treece officiating.
