Arthur 'Obie' Reed

ARCADIA Arthur "Obie" Reed of Arcadia passed to his Heavenly home on December 21, 2022 at NHC Nursing and Rehab at the age of 86. He was born May 29, 1936 in Minimum, Missouri to the late Arthur Reed and Lola Bell (Jackson) Reed. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Montgomery and Nadine Pogue. Obie, as most knew him, spent his boyhood in the Marble Creek area in rural Iron County. In February of 1959 he was drafted into the Army where he proudly served his country stationed in Germany. In January of 1964 he married the love of his life, Wanda Bowles in St. Louis. Obie went to work at an early age for General Motors where he worked until his retirement after thirty years there. In his retirement years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and boating. He never did meet a stranger and made many friends along his lifes journey. He was a fun loving person who had a great sense of humor and a great laugh. His daughters will always cherish the memory of what a great father they were blessed with. Survivors include his loving wife, Wanda; his daughters, Lisa Ann Reed and Sandra Kay (Mark) Pappalardo; his siblings, Barb Wadlow, Mildred Stotler, Ruth Jones, Judy Warren, Doreen Clubb and Gary Reed; numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 5 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Solid Rock Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31. Interment will be held later that day at Black Mountain Cemetery near Arcadia. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
