Annetta Mae Phegley Strickland

Annetta Mae Phegley-Strickland of St. Louis and formerly of Doe Run passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at the age of 63 years. She was born on October 12, 1947, at Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late John Leonard and Bonnie Carvel (Skaggs) Phegley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a special cousin, Glenda Weiss and a special nephew, Barry Phegley. Annetta grew up in Doe Run where she graduated from high school in 1965. She went on to Forest Park Community College where she received an Associate Degree in Business Administration. She was employed for more than 20 years with St. Louis County where she recently retired as the Administrative Assistant to the Assessor. When her children were growing up, she enjoyed coaching their softball and volleyball teams. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her daughters and granddaughters. Survivors include the love of her life, her husband, David, two daughters, Kathy Rueweler and her companion Jerry Abernathy of St. Peters and Patty (Mrs. Mark) Fozzard of O'Fallon; six granddaughters, Rachel, Veronica, Kayla, Samantha, Katie and Kimie; a brother, Leonard "Elmo" Phegley and his wife Velma of Doe Run; two nieces, Penny and Melodie and host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Also surviving are her in-laws, William and Wanda Strickland of Overland Park, Kansas. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday, October 17. Visitation will resume Monday from 7 a.m. until the service beginning at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ellen Strickland and Pastor Jay Lacey officiating. Interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the American Heart Association.
