December 31, 1933 — October 31, 2022

FARMINGTON Anna Jean Wade, of Farmington, passed away peacefully after the final whistle blew on October 31, 2022, at Cedarhurst at the age of 88. She was born on December 31, 1933, in Elvins, Missouri to the late Thomas and Hazel (Daugherty) Welch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Donald Wade who passed away on March 19, 2020. Anna Jean graduated from Elvins High School in 1951. She went on to attend and graduate from Flat River Junior College in 1953 and then from University of Missouri Columbia in 1955 with a bachelors degree in Education. She continued her college education later in life at Southeast Missouri State University where she received her masters degree. Anna Jean was a physical education teacher for Desloge High School from 1957 until 1962 and then moved to Farmington High School from 1962 until her retirement in 1987. After receiving her masters in counseling, she transitioned into the role of Farmington High School Counselor. She also successfully coached several high school volleyball teams to MAAA conference championships. She later coached the Farmington womens tennis team. Anna Jean genuinely cared deeply for the students she taught, coached, and counseled. Anna Jean was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society Mother Cluckers Chapter of Farmington. She was an avid baseball, basketball, and football fan. She enjoyed playing piano, singing, traveling, and watching sunsets with her husband, but most of all she loved lounging on the boat while sipping a beer and listening to Cardinal baseball on the radio. At the age of 86, she decided to take up painting as a hobby and created many beautiful landscapes. Anna Jean will be remembered as a spunky, fierce competitor, and fun-loving lady with a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
