FARMINGTON - Alvin Earl Schleappe of Farmington passed away December 19, 2018 at his grandson's residence in Bonne Terre at the age of 79. He was born February 19, 1939 in St. Louis, MO to the late Adolph and Marie (Zajic) Schleappe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steve Schleappe. Alvin proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from AmerenUE after many years of service and was a member of IBEW Local 2 for over 50 years. Alvin was a hard worker and loved helping others throughout the community. He cooked for the local VFW, built baseball fields in Farmington, drove a bus for the Farmington High School marching band, was a licensed private pilot and was famous for his hot pickles. He invented a tractor belt which he held a patent for. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Alvin is survived by his children, Alvin Schleappe Jr., William Schleappe, Darlane Crow and Michael Schleappe and his grandsons who he raised and had legal guardianship of, Joshua Moser and Bryan Moser, and many friends. Per Alvin's request, his body will be donated to St. Louis University for the advancement of medical science. No formal services will be held.
