Alvada June (French) Bailey died peacefully in her home in Cupertino, CA, on October 25, 2011, in the company of her husband, John and her four loving children. She was born on September 15, 1935, in Perry County, MO, daughter of the late Hester Marcelline (Lorenz) and Floyd Edward French. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Smith and a brother, Eldon French. Her growing-up years were spent in Fredericktown, where she graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1953. Alvada was working in San Francisco where she met and married her husband, John, in 1961. Alvada had a sweet, gentle spirit that was full of love and the gift of hospitality. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband, John Bailey, four children, Janet Ritter of Bellevue, WA, Alan Bailey (Kim) of San Jose, CA, Teresa Buchanan (Garry) of San Carlos, CA and Brian Bailey of Cupertino, CA, eight grandchildren, Matthew, Eric and Emily Ritter, Alyssa and Justin Bailey, John & Grady Buchanan and Channing Bailey, and her surviving siblings, her twin sister Aletha Brase, Norvin French, Iris Prokopf, Daisy Hodges and Floyd French Jr. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, at the Whitewater Christian Church of Perry County, at 1 p.m. with a funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at the Whitewater Christian Cemetery.
