Alma "Tommie" Hawkins, a cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, at the age of 99 in Farmington, Missouri. Born on August 9, 1925, in Knob Lick, Missouri, to the late Guy and Gertrude (Wilkerson) Murphy, Tommie lived a life marked by devotion to her family and her faith.
She was the beloved wife of the late Harold "Gene" Hawkins, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Although she was preceded in death by her daughters, Mary Ann Burch and Linda Gail Hawkins, her legacy of love continues through her family. She was a sister to the late Blanche Murphy, Linda Marie Murphy, Wilma (the late Elmer "Sug") Hollinger, and Alvin "Bud" (the late Audell) Murphy and was also preceded in death by several nieces and nephews.
Tommie's professional life was characterized by her role as a dedicated secretary for Judge Swink of Farmington. After her children began their educational journeys, she returned to the workforce, becoming the familiar and friendly face at Dr. Doug Ross's office as a receptionist, where she retired after more than two decades of service.
Her commitment to her faith was unwavering. A former member of the Church of God in Farmington, Tommie served as treasurer for over 50 years. She continued her spiritual journey as a current member of Knob Lick Church of God.
She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, found joy in watching the Olympics and was a fantastic cook
She leaves behind a loving family, including her son-in-law, Tom Burch of Farmington; her grandchildren, Kristee (John) Bloom of Irondale and Keith (Casey) Burch of Farmington; her great-grandchildren, Lindsay Bloom, Ty Burch, and Brody Burch; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
