FARMINGTON Allia Mae Hughes, of Farmington, passed away August 12, 2017 at Southbrook Skilled Nursing and Rehab at the age of 84. Her journey began on June 17, 1933 in Farmington where she was born to the late Orville R. Hamm and Addie M. (Wells) Hamm. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her best friend and husband of 46 years, Ralph "RK" Hughes, Jr. in 1996; a sister, Lottie M. Allia Mae grew up in the Hollowcamp area south of Farmington where she attended Cartee School, a one room school house. She walked three miles every day back and forth to school. She taught Sunday School for many years at Knob Lick Church of God where she had been a long time member. She also enjoyed being a member of the Church Womens group. When her children were older, Allia Mae went to work for the Madison County Health Department where she retired from after twenty five dedicated years. A talented seamstress, Allia Mae enjoyed quilting, reading, watching old Westerns and just sitting on her front porch watching the world go by.
