IRONTON – Allan Leroy Saylor, 85, of Ironton passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital, Lake St. Louis, Missouri. Allen, known to his family as Buster in his younger years, was born on March 25, 1939, in Quincy, Illinois to the late Gilbert C. Saylor and Lillian Viola (Wardlow) Saylor.

Joining the U. S. Navy at the age of 17, Allan began his life as a young adult and traveled around the world. The U. S. Navy became his career and stationed him from Virginia to Hawaii to Florida to South Carolina. Throughout most of his life, Allan loved participating in sports. In school, he ran track and played baseball. In the Navy, he participated in fast-pitch softball, archery, and bowling. He also coached Little League baseball for many years. He retired from the service after 22 years as a Chief Engineman. He always loved working on diesel engines and continued working on them after his Navy retirement. Eventually, he made a move to Missouri for a simpler life and to be close to his two brothers, the late Gilbert E. Saylor and the late Joseph W. Saylor.

Survivors include his two sons, Jeffrey A. (Barbara) Saylor of Valley Lee, Maryland, and Gregory D. (Amanda) Saylor of Lexington Park, Maryland; four grandchildren, Jeff, Brittany, Greg, Christine; and four great-grandchildren.
