Albert William "Al" Weiman of Farmington passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Community Manor at the age of 88. He was born on July 22, 1922, at Bonne Terre, MO, son of the late Albert Ludwig Weiman and Rosa (Carlton) Thompson. In addition to his parents he was preceded by two sisters and three brothers, Virginia Stevens, Lillie Miller, Carl Weiman, J. C. Thompson and Douglas Combs. Al grew up in Bonne Terre and enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corp at a young age. In 1944 he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and proudly served his country during World War II. Soon after joining the Navy, Al married the love of his life, Bertha Dickey on October 1, 1944. After the service Al and Bertha made their home in Farmington where he worked for Butterfield Greenhouse. In later years Al worked as an accomplished carpenter, having worked on the St. Louis Arch project. In his retirement he enjoyed extensive travel, gardening and fishing. In addition to his wife, Al is survived by a son, Gary "Mike" Weiman of Walnut Creek, CA and a daughter, Janet Scott of Millstadt, IL; two grandchildren, Scott Ennor and Tammy Ennor; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joann Matthews of Farmington and Georgia McDermott of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 9 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2011. A special VFW and Masonic services will be held during the visitation beginning at 7 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning at 7 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am in the Cozean Chapel with the Reverend Dale Berck officiating. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
