Adelia Hovis

Adelia Dee Hovis of Fredericktown passed away on May 14, 2006 at Madison Medical Center at the age of 70 years. She was born on February 7, 1936, in Madison County, the daughter of the late Cecil Ray and Mattie Yative (Killian) Thomas. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde, Marvin, Carl and Earl. Mrs. Hovis worked as a clerk for Probation & Parole Office for many years. She was Deputy County Clerk of Madison County from 1961 to 1967. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Howard Hovis, son, Walter Hovis and wife, Gail of Virginia Beach, VA, daughter, LaWanna Hovis of Marquand, four brothers, Vernon Thomas and wife, Sue of Aberdean, NC, Don Thomas and wife, Donna Sue of Imperial, Bill Thomas and wife, Gracie and Gary Thomas and wife Kay, all of Fredericktown, sister, Mary Fillenberg and husband Ernie of Denver, CO, sister-in-law, Ophelia Hovis of Fredericktown, two grandchildren, Christel L. Halze of Watertown, WI and Geoff L. Hovis of Fort Knox, KY, and four great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 7:30 a.m. A funeral service will be held at the Cozean Chapel on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Truman Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens
