A. J. Miller

FARMINGTON A.J. Miller, of Farmington, passed away March 25, 2018 at Camelot Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 89. He was born October 22, 1928 in Ste. Genevieve County to the late Samuel Thomas and Thelma (Hamor) Miller. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty (Mabery) Miller in 2015; a sister, Alethea Ward and two brothers, Charles Miller and Earl Miller.

After A.J. served in the U.S. Army, he worked for thirty years at the State Hospital as a cook. However, his life was farming. He was born, raised, and continued working the family farm until he was unable. His grandson, along with Dennis Dement and sons, have continued his legacy. His summers were spent putting up hay and drinking lemonade under the shade tree. A.J. was a friend to many and did not meet a stranger. He was a member of the Flat River Church of Christ, and a wonderful father and Papa that will be forever missed.

Survivors include his girls, Sarah (Eric) Bertram and Jane (Tom) Robke, all of Farmington; five grandchildren, Emilie (Charlie) Uptegrove, Sam (Kaitlin) Thompson, Cate Robke, Ella Bertram, and Kala Bertram, all of Farmington; four great-grandchildren, Will and Leah Uptegrove, Malaki Herman, and Stetson Thompson due in April.

Friends may call on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Bernie Crum officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorials, if desired may be made to the Childrens Homes, Inc. in Paragould, Arkansas or to the Disabled American Veterans.
